We hope you enjoy our web-site. It is full of fascinating pages and pictures about life at St. John's and includes interesting events for the rest of the term!

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR GUIDED TOUR AROUND OUR SCHOOL

The school's fully enclosed playground has several individual play areas, including a clatterbridge, balancing beams, Tower Bridge, sandpit boat, Bluebell Cottage and a Musical Washing Line!

Recently the Early Years playground was transformed by a new colourful wet pore surface and vegetable growing area for the children in Reception Class.

The pupils enjoy their free fruit and vegetables as part of the government healthy eating scheme.

They also have access to a water cooler by which they can re-fill their water bottles at any time of the day.

The games field is adjacent to the village recreation ground and provides a venue for games lessons, as well as summer sports events and our annual 'Party in the Park' gathering. All parents are invited to our productions and sports events.

The school's wildlife garden, known as the 'Outside Classroom' has won several awards in Surrey - for the best newly created wildlife garden (1995), the best school garden (1996) and runner-up for the best school environmental study area (1999).

The garden provides an area that is both stimulating and relaxing, and is used for a variety of activities, studying topics as varied as art and science. A 'stumpery' allows investigation of mini-beasts and Badger Class made an overwintering area for insects in 2007. Also in that year the 'Outside Classroom' was opened as part of the local Horticultural's 'Open Gardens' event and proved to be very popular with visitors.
The Reception classroom provides the ideal environment for the mix of structured learning and play activities needed by our 4 and 5 year olds. Reception class children can make use of their own dedicated play area, but they also feel entirely at ease in the bigger playground with children from Fox and Badger classes.

In 1996 an extension to the reception classroom, known as the 'Cabin', provided extra space for creative play.
At one end of the main corridor is the library where the children can spend time choosing their books for 'shared reading'.

This scheme provides a structured approach for children to choose books with their teachers, to be read at home with their parents. A diary is provided for teacher and parent monitoring.

This is just one way in which we foster a shared sense of responsibility for our childrens' education, between the children, their teachers and their parents.

School meals are cooked on site on a daily basis and meals are served on small tables with different age groups. Children with packed lunches and school meals eat together.

Assemblies are held every day in the hall and we invite the vicar, Sophie Jelley and other local groups, like the Farnham Assembly Team to hold special assemblies.

Here a child holds up an Easter wreath that was made with the help of the Farnham Assemblies Team.

Here the hall is used for the children's annual Christmas Party!
