Harvest Festival Service ~ Wednesday 8th October at 9.00am

Dear Parents,

Our Harvest Festival Service will be held in St. John’s Church on Wednesday 8th October at 9.00am and all the children will be taking part. The Church is located on the Green past the village hall and all children should be brought to the Church Room well before the start of the Service, which will last approximately three quarters of an hour. You will find the Church Room to the left of the main Church entrance. I hope you can stay and join in our Harvest celebrations. After the Service it is your responsibility to return your child/ren to school. If you cannot stay please find another parent who will be responsible for bringing your child/ren to school and let your class teacher know.

A crèche will be available in the Church Room for younger children kindly organized by Mrs Mackenzie.

For several years now we have supported the Whitechapel Mission for the Homeless in London and we welcome your gifts to support this Charity. Attached to this letter is information on the gifts for donation to this charity and your gifts should be brought to the Church on the morning of the Service.

Once again I would like to thank you for all the support you give to
St. John’s.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Parents,

The children in Badger Class will be visiting Guildford Cathedral on Thursday 13th November to attend an Advent Workshop.

Please provide a packed lunch in a back-pack that they can carry themselves.

The children will be travelling by coach at 9.15am for the Workshop in the morning. They will then remain in the Cathedral to eat their lunch before returning to school by coach. Usual school times will apply.

Please ensure your child has a warm, waterproof coat on the day.

Pupils of St. John’s have attended Workshops at the Cathedral in past years and they have proved to be very popular and stimulating.

I am asking you to complete the form below and enclose a voluntary contribution of £6 to cover the cost of the coach fare. Please make your cheque out to St. John’s School Fund and return payment and form to the office by Tuesday 11th November.

Yours sincerely,

Operation Christmas Child  -  2008

06/10/08

Dear Parents,

Many of you will remember the tremendous enthusiasm shown by parents in previous years to support ‘Operation Christmas Child’, and we have again agreed to support the charity this year. I enclose a leaflet that explains how you can become involved if you so wish.

You are invited to cover an adult sized shoe box with Christmas paper, (covering the lid separately) and then fill the box with unwrapped items suitable for a child of an age defined by one of the three labels provided on the enclosed leaflet. You are also invited to enclose a cheque, (made out to Samaritan’s Purse) for £2.00 per box to be placed inside your filled shoebox or you may prefer to send a monetary donation instead of filling a box. Please read carefully the list of items that should not be included in the box. You may like to consider filling a box for a teenager, because the charity is always short of items for this age group.

The boxes will be collected by a representative from the charity from the second week of November so start collecting items now and bring your box to school as soon as it is completed because it encourages others to get going!   If you have any spare shoe boxes please bring them into school for others to make use of.

Many thanks for supporting for this worthy charity.

Yours sincerely,
